Eating Out Suggestions

A few of our recommendations among others:

  • If you are interested in cooking for yourself or the family please ask us about the wide variety of fresh herbs available in our Herb garden.
  • We also have a walk in chef who will cook for you in your cottage. Parties of 8 or more catered for. Please ask us for a menu selection.

Some of our suggestions for eating out from Rustic Italian Cooking with Homemade Pasta to Gourmet Modern Irish to Fresh Seafood include:

Marlfield House

This is a famous Irish Restaurant 20 minutes away just outside Gorey. It is a Michelin Star winner. They have an “early bird” menu from 6pm-7.30 except on Fridays and Saturdays (c 36 Euro per person). Dinner excluding what is an excellent wine list (c 55 Euro Per person). There is also a bar lunch from 12 noon to 5 pm every day except Sunday. Tel: 055-21124. Please note bookings are nearly always required for dinner. Lovely ambiance.Not cheap but good treat and they have beautiful gardens. www.marlfieldhouse.com is the website if you want to have a look.

Sean Og’s

Sean Og’s is located in Kilmuckridge. Has Good pub food, a friendly welcome and a great pint of Guinness. Handy and comfortable with friendly staff. It is open for food up to 9pm. Reservations are not generally required.

Papa Rhodes

Papa Rhodes is locatedin Ballycanew about 6 miles away and has great freshly cooked Italian food and homemade pasta. Great fun and ambiance. Bookings are required for evening dining. Tel: 055-27533. The restaurant has an open fire on which they cook prawns and Pizza

Riverbank House Hotel

The Riverbank at the bridge in Enniscorthy takes 20 minutes in the car. It has good afternoon food as well as dinner. Menu consists largely of high quality fresh seafood until 9.30pm. It has a superb view of the River Slaney and is a great place to relax on a summer afternoon and watch the fishermen on the Slaney.

La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vitain Selskar, in Wexford Town again is highly recommended. It serves primarily very good rustic Italian food using high quality Italian and Irish produce. It is a great place to have lunch if you’re exploring the old Norman town of Wexford. It also have superb cup of coffee if you want to stop in for a shopping break.

Kehoes Pub

Keogh’s is located in Kilmore Quay and has lovely fresh simple seafood and a great pint of Guinness to be enjoyed by the Harbour in this old traditional Irish fishing village.

La Marine

La Marina is located in Rosslare has good Bistro food if you’re exploring the area or are taking a day out to play some golf at the links.

Dunbrody House

Just before Ballyhack in South Wexford Dunbrody House has a lovely modern Irish menu all prepared with top grade fresh Irish produce. This is expensive but a nice treat on the way to Waterford if you’re going on a morning or afternoon trip. Tel: 051-389600 for bookings. Reservations are recommended

Hunters Yard

Hunters in Mount Juliet is very pleasant. If you are on your way to Kilkenny/Jerpoint it has interesting menu and the setting is lovely.

Mount Juliet

Mount Juliet in Kilkenny has lovely afternoon tea if you fancy some scones and clotted cream and is a great way to soak up the ambiance.

La Riva

La Riva is locatedin Wexford town has good Italian food and overlooks the Harbour. Very pleasant on a good spring or summers day. Tel: 053-24330.
